While taking a procrastination break from my writing retreat, an e-mail subject line caught my eye. My friends at Sunset Magazine had some news! I like when Sunset Magazine lets me know about an easy, 5 ingredient dinner or an unknown beach getaway in Santa Barbara or the best paint colors for my kitchen. Articles like that make me feel like the folks at Sunset Magazine care about my real life in Pasadena, California when so many other lifestyle magazines ignore the West. ( Are you listening, Martha Stewart Living! We can’t grow hostas out here, period. Could you suggest some other shade plant?)
But today’s email blast was even more Chaos Chronicles- specific. Great Home office designs, including putting An Office in Your Closet! How did you know, Sunset Magazine? I not only have an office in my closet, I have a recording studio in my closet. And, I also have a closet in my closet! I was so curious to see how the Chaos Chronicles Closet compared to the Sunset Magazine Closet.
Needless to say, there was no comparison. See The Chaos Chronicles Closet/Studio on the left; Sunset Magazine’s on the right. I concede that the the Sunset “Work in your Closet” design was a little more sophisticated than my design. First of all, there was an actual designer credited, beyond Office Max. Second, no tray tables, no mic, no big medical book to prop up the mic. And, most surprisingly, the Sunset Magazine closet was completely clothing-free. I guess the difference is that theirs is an office that was a closet. And mine is an office that is a closet.
Thanks, anyway Sunset Magazine, you continue to inspire and inform. I’d love to see an article one day on Drought-Tolerant Office Plants for your Closet. Thanks!
Embracing my Chaos, Lian
