About Lian Dolan, writer and broadcaster
Lian Dolan is a mother, wife, sister, friend, and daughter. She is also a bestselling author and an award-winning talk show host. Over the course of her professional career, Lian has been a Satellite Sister, a Chaos Chronicler, a columnist at oprah.com and author of the novel Helen of Pasadena and Elizabeth the First Wife.
Lian created Satellite Sisters, an award-winning talk show, blog, and website, with her four real sisters. From 2000 to 2009, Satellite Sisters won 8 Gracie Allen Awards for Excellence in Women’s Media, including Talk Show of the Year in 2006. On air, Lian interviewed everybody from Bill Clinton to Nora Roberts to Maya Angelou. Lian has served as the Executive Producer, on-air host and managing editor of all the Satellite Sisters writing projects.
To document the madness of Modern Motherhood, Lian created The Chaos Chronicles as a humorous magazine column for Working Mother in 2002, when her boys were little and she was frazzled. The kids have grown into tweens and teens, but the Chaos remains. Now Lian hosts her own weekly podcast called The Chaos Chronicles and writes the Chaos Chronicles blog. She spends an hour every week giving her take on modern motherhood and all that includes, from news headlines to parenting observation to advice- giving. Lian has always used the airwaves to give voice to the issues important to mothers everywhere, as a veteran of the mommy wars, the homework wars, the turn-off-the-TV wars, and the Star Wars fan club. Lian is now developing The Chaos Chronicles into a half-hour sitcom for Nickelodeon.
Lian’s first novel, Helen of Pasadena, a social satire about a modern mom in transition, was published in November 2010by Prospect Park Books. Helen of Pasadena is a Los Angeles Times Bestseller and Lian has toured extensively in support of the book. To read more about Helen of Pasadena, including a synopsis, click here.

Her writing has been featured in many national magazines including regular columns in O, The Oprah Magazine. Her essays have also appeared in several anthologies, including “Chicken Soup for the Sister’s Soul” and “Over the Hill and Between the Sheets: Love, Sex and Lust in Middle Age”.
She has appeared numerous TV shows including The Today Show, CBS Sunday Morning and The Oprah Winfrey Show. She is a popular speaker for groups and corporations, always using humor as hook in her speeches.
Her growing sons keep her busy preparing many large meals, carpooling to soccer, and washing many loads of sweat socks. Her husband Berick Treidler works in real estate and runs a lot. In her free time, Lian loves to read, cook, watch sports, weed, volunteer, and walk her dog.
She lives in Pasadena, California and her dream is to ride on a Rose Parade float.
